What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

media distribution

Lets be honest, this much writing can’t really be made to look iterating, but at least Piktochart makes the information look a little bit less essayey. So we chose this method of presenting our information in order to make our research slightly more appealing to read.

The best way the Coupy and I could decide on how to answer the question presented to us ‘What kind of media institution might distribute your media product?’ was to research which institutions distributed other films in a similar genre. For this we decided to research distributors of both crime and British social realism.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Coupy and I decided to use prezzi as our way of presenting our ideas about the representation of particular social groups in our film opening. We focused on the three social groups: white male, white female and the police.

The Police
The policeman in our film opening is depicted as being fairly aggressive, a stereotype that is often followed in films, but not often in crime films as the policeman is often viewed as a ‘nice guy’ character when they are used as the hero character. In this way we chose to avoid the typical social stereotype of this character in order to make him seem more serious about the case.

White Male
Our young, white male character is shown wearing a hoodie in our film opening, a symbol of youth and trouble making, fitting his character profile.

White Female
Our female character is obviously quite young, because of the teddy bears in the shot, symbolising her innocence, which makes the crime in the film more shocking to the audience. She is pale with dark hair which makes her death more obvious to the viewer.
